Shauna and I met for her consult back in the summer. She had a vision for a fall session with all the pretty leaves. She knew just the spot that she wanted to go, a location she and her family spend a lot of time enjoying. Of course the fall wasn’t our best and by the time her session rolled around we had small hopes for even just a break in the rain, never mind pretty fall foliage. We wrapped up her consult and right at the end noted the Lifestyle section of that weeks Squamish Chief paper on the table that had one of my photos on it. “Must be a sign.”, she said.
And we did get lucky that with just a short reprieve from the rains and even a burst of beautiful light at just the right time of day. Their delightful dog looked my way every time I shouted, ‘Margarita’. (A happy accident I figured out by fluke when I mis-heard something else Shauna had said.) None the less I felt we were kindred spirits.
As these sessions always do the end rolled around as the light was fading behind the mountains. The girls begged, “More photos!” and I loved them even more for it. Mom and dad left wondering as all parents do if I managed to get more than a couple decent shots in all that chaos that naturally happens with family sessions, especially one with a dog.
