This was probably my favorite request for photos in a very long time.
When I got to speak to Shelley it was obvious she values photography, but that’s just a reflection of the value she places on life and the people she has in it.
I hesitated to ask, “How’s your mom’s health?”
“Perfect. She’s healthy and sharp as can be and she’s 90 so every day is a blessing.”
There are so many of us who don’t really realize the value of getting photos with our loved ones until it’s too late.
But here was Shelley, doing exactly what most of us only live to regret not doing!
Not going to lie. They thought I was a little crazy when I asked them to go out and stand under an umbrella in the rain, turns out they loved it.
I especially loved Peggy’s story about the photo of her as a 15 year old girl. Leaning against a tree wearing a peasant shirt, just falling off one shoulder.
Her sons all fought over who could keep it while rooting through her old albums one day.
Just some photo. She didn’t think much of it at the time. Here were her sons 75 years later finding it to be one of their most prized possessions.
