“I can’t believe this is Valleycliffe!! It looks like somewhere far away, but of course it’s not and that’s what makes them so special.”
Valleycliffe is known for being dark. Shady. ‘The shadow of the Chief.’
It had a reputation back in the day. You didn’t dare go into Valleycliffe unless you wanted your car flipped and set on fire.
My running joke is, ‘This neighborhood is shady AF’.
We didn’t know it’s former reputation when we moved into ‘the hood’ and certainly hadn’t discovered the 2 inches of permafrost that resides on the front lawn from November through March helping it live up to it’s ‘shady’ reputation.
Overflowing with young families. Kids playing in the street. Trails. Rock climbing and mountain biking routes. And this sweet little ‘river’ that separates it from that giant looming boulder.
It’s anything but shady and even in the darkest months of winter, if you know the right spot at just the right time of day,
I’d argue that it has the best light in Squamish.
